una notte in italia

June, 29 to 17 July 2016 - Tavolara.

Festival history

The festival Una notte in Italia, set up in 1991 by a group of friends fond of cinema and of the island of Tavolara, has been following closely, for years, the production and events of Italian cinema, by involving both authors and actors. The festival has always maintained the same qualities: a lot of Italian cinema, the same unique setting and the will to say that even a priceless environmental asset like the island of Tavolara can be enjoyed thanks to intelligent proposals that perfectly combine landscape protection and tourism. Moreover, it is a space which is traditionally dedicated to Sardinian cinema and, in particular, to young directors or significant regional works. The festival activities have always placed emphasis on the environmental enhancement of the island and helped its recent establishment as a Marine Protected Area.
With time, Una notte in Italia has been enriched with a programme full of fringe events and has always lived up to its fame as a great popular event, during which professionals and the audience meet in the same boat and in the same stalls. Its territorial scope has also expanded. It now enjoys the participation of three municipalities (Olbia, Porto San Paolo and San Teodoro), the Marine Protected Area of Tavolara - Punta Coda Cavallo, as well as the Centro Cinema Città of Cesena and Confindustria Nord Sardegna. The festival has been accredited by the Universities of Bologna and Sassari for the realisation of traineeships.
The importance gained by Una notte in Italia, its credibility at a national level and the quality of journalists and experts involved make Una notte in Italia one of the festivals which can boast more presence in the national media, at least among those which take place in Sardinia, and is a real economic asset for the area. www.cinematavolara.it
